ABOUT ABHOP

"Empowering all women—with a focus on underprivileged ethnic minorities—through breast health awareness education and life-saving mammograms to foster a healthier community for all."

Established in 2001, ABHOP is a community-based nonprofit program anchored at Methodist Richardson Medical Center. Our mission is simple but life-saving: to champion early breast cancer detection through dedicated education and accessible screenings for underserved populations across North Texas.

OUR EVOLUTION:

Building a Bridge of Trust for Every Voice

ABHOP’s legacy began by serving the unique needs of Asian communities, but our mission has grown to meet the health challenges of all marginalized women. For 25 years, we have utilized our signature "Bridge of Trust" model—a framework perfected through decades of care—to connect women facing health barriers with the medical services they deserve.

We aren't doing less for the Asian community; we are doing more for everyone. By applying the cultural expertise we’ve refined over decades, we are bridging the gap for every disadvantaged voice in healthcare.

Confronting the "Triple Threat" of Barriers To Care

ABHOP specifically supports disadvantaged ethnic minority women who face a "triple threat" of barriers to care:

1. Linguistic Isolation: Language should never be a barrier to survival.

2. Financial Hardship: We ensure that economic status does not dictate health outcomes.

3. Cultural Mistrust: We bridge the gap between traditional perspectives and Western medicine through education and empathy.

We work tirelessly to dismantle these obstacles, empowering women with the knowledge and clinical access required for the life-saving screenings that every woman deserves.
